Mr.Spotswood's law practice has focused on escheat matters for more thantwenty years. His introduction to unclaimed property began whilerepresenting the Treasurer of Virginia from 1983 to 1987. During thattime, he advised the Treasurer on numerous disputed audits andVirginia's adoption of the 1981 Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.

SubsequentlyMr. Spotswood represented the forensic accounting firm of Andreoli,Johanson & Wood in its efforts to recover funds on behalf of thestates. This required a close working relationship with the variousstate administrators, auditors and counsel.

CurrentlyspotswoodLAW represents holders of unclaimed property. Thisrepresentation includes strategic counsel as well as preparation forand defense of an audit.

Mr. Spotswood is the co-author ofUnclaimed Property Laws, Compliance and Enforcement published by CCH,Inc. His articles have appeared in numerous accounting and legalperiodicals. He is a frequent speaker at conferences sponsored byNAUPA, UPPO, CheckFree and Chesapeake System Solutions.

Mr.Spotswood received his bachelor's degree and master's degree from theUniversity of Virginia and his Juris Doctorate from the T.C. WilliamsSchool of Law at the University of Richmond. He was admitted topractice in 1976.
