Alan J. Preis, CPA conducts a practice limited to state and federal tax matters for his own account in Florham Park, New Jersey. Prior to 1992, he was a tax partner, concentrating in New Jersey and multistate tax matters, in the Parsippany, NJ office of Deloitte & Touche, with which firm he had spent over twenty years. He lectures on state tax matters, and has been recognized as an outstanding instructor by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Distinguished Discussion Leader by the New York State Society of CPAs' Foundation for Accounting Education. He is the co-author and instructor of a full-day course on New Jersey taxes presented annually for the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the New Jersey Society of CPAs' publication New Jersey CPA, and has chaired its State Taxation and Multistate Taxation Committees, as well as the New York State Society of CPAs' Interstate Taxation Committee. He is a member of the AICPA Tax Division and has served on its State and Local Taxation Committee; is a New Jersey correspondent for State Tax Notes; has published several articles in The Interstate Tax Insights, for CCH and The Bureau of National Affairs.

He received a BA from Columbia University and an MBA from the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a professional resource to CPAs, attorneys and businesses in matters of New Jersey and multi-state taxation.
